Almighty G-d, Master of the Universe, I invoke Your blessing today on this honorable body, the Senate of the State of Illinois. May You, Almighty G-d, grant that the members of this honorable body, have the wisdom and courage to embody the universal values of the Seven Commandments, which You issued to Noah and his family after the great flood.
As related in the book of Genesis, You issued the following seven laws:
To worship You, and You alone; never to curse Your Holy Name; do not murder, respect life; not to commit adultery; not to steal, lie or cheat; do not be cruel to any creature; and that every country govern morally — based on the recognition of You, O G-d, as our L-rd and Master.
Almighty G-d, I beseech you today to bless the Illinois State Senate, its participants, and the entire state of Illinois, in the merit of the spiritual giant of our time and our country, Melech HaMoshiach, the Lubavitcher Rebbe Shlita, whom I have the privilege to represent here in Springfield.
The Rebbe labored with great love, dedication, and self-sacrifice to make all mankind aware of Your sacred presence. May his inspiration be a blessing and shield for our government, state, and country.
Almighty G-d, please fulfill Your promise to the Patriarch Abraham, "I will bless those who bless you." In recognition of their great support for the Land of Israel, Almighty G-d, bless the Senators of Illinois, along with their relatives and dear ones, with success and tranquility all their days.
May we experience now the fulfillment of humanity's great future, as proclaimed by the Prophet Isaiah: "Nations will not lift the sword against nations, neither will they learn war anymore." With the coming of the Ultimate Redemption, through your True Messiah. Amen.
