Reports that come out of Iran indicate a worsening crisis of the regime there. The fact that this is happening on Purim is particularly symbolic.
The value of Iran’s currency, the rial, in 2015, when the Obama administration struck a so-called nuclear deal with the Iranian regime, was 32,000 rials to one dollar. Today, eight years later, the value of the rial has dropped so much that a dollar is worth 500,000 rials — half a million rials! Just in the last two months the Iranian currency has collapsed by 30 percent! This is the obvious result of the government crisis!
These are not just big numbers: every product that Iran buys from the West, everything that private importers bring in from the West, has to be payed for in dollars. Which means that when the rial falls in value on such a rapid scale, there is a huge problem — because wages can’t keep up with the rate of growth. In other words, the prices of all imported goods are rising much faster than wages, which means that the purchasing power of citizens is falling catastrophically.
We are talking about household goods. For example, the price of ordinary shampoo imported by an Iranian company has already increased by 10 times!
The same is happening with the prices of diapers, clothes and products like, for example, meat, which have already gone up by hundreds of percent. Generally speaking, the Iranian currency continues to lose its value.
At the same time, the fact that the Iranian authorities have now adopted a clear pro-Russian policy reduces the chances of signing a new deal with the West, which could dramatically improve Iran’s economic condition.
Today it became known that Iran transferred to Russia a large shipment of weapons — 300,000 shells and 100 million bullets. Obviously, this delivery only strengthens the rejection of the Iranian regime in the West, and therefore benefits Israel.
By the way, this information was provided by sources in the security services, who said that the weapons were transported by two ships sailing under the Russian flag.
The Iranian regime is being hit from all sides. Today, for example, a pro-Iranian militant base in Syria was attacked from the air using a drone. It is still unclear who was using the drone (note that the US has repeatedly attacked terrorist bases using drones). It is reported that four militants were killed and eight others were wounded.
