Yesterday (18 August 2024) a powerful explosion erupted on Lehi Street in south Tel Aviv. At first it was reported that „a lorry exploded“, however, it was later revealed that the explosion was not a lorry at all. Yesterday, a great miracle happened in Tel Aviv!
Security cameras recorded a man in his fifties walking down the street with a rucksack behind his back. His appearance did not arouse the slightest suspicion. At some point, however, a huge explosive charge in his rucksack exploded (it is also possible that he was wearing an explosive-filled suicide belt). The ensuing explosion of tremendous force tore the unidentified man to pieces and caused damage to a nearby lorry.
Information gathered by security officials soon made it clear that the terrorist had been killed by his own powerful bomb.
The bomb exploded while the terrorist was in the vicinity of the large synagogue located on Lehi Street, where some 80 people were gathered on the ground floor for midday and evening prayers.
Eyewitnesses described how they miraculously survived because they had entered the synagogue shortly before the explosion and thus were not near the suicide bomber.
Apparently, the terrorist intended to carry out a mass attack in the heart of Tel Aviv, and it was only by some apparent miracle that his explosive device detonated prematurely and killed no one but himself. It also appears that a nearby lorry, by divine providence, actually took most of the blast and thus spared the random bystanders around it.
Hamas has claimed responsibility for this failed terrorist attack, which was an attempted mass murder of civilians.
It is unclear exactly where the terrorist intended to carry out his atrocity, but it is likely that he chose a fairly crowded place to, G-d forbid, carry out his plan. But G-d, who guards and protects us, blessed be His Name, has kept us safe again.
Note that this miracle took place on the blessed and wonderful holiday of 15 Av, about which our Sages said: „Israel had no better days than 15 Av and Yom Kippur...“
„Bless the L-rd, for good (He is), and His mercy is everlasting!“
I should add that just last night at 8:00 pm, the СHABAD centre in the Neve Ofer area (just 10 minutes by car from Lehi Street) organised a dance in the streets to praise G-d for the miracles He performed during the war... I think this event also contributed to preventing a terrorist attack!
