Documents discovered in the building of the Iranian embassy in Damascus have fallen into the hands of the media. These materials shed light on an ambitious project through which Tehran intended to establish full control over Syria.

According to the publication, Iran had planned to gradually subordinate key aspects of Syrian statehood through sustained and comprehensive military and economic support. These included the army, energy infrastructure (oil, gas, electricity), the economy, the media, and even the education system. The project was led by a high-ranking member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who was responsible for coordinating aid deliveries and strategically infiltrating Syria’s vital institutions.

However, this large-scale operation ended in failure. Bashar al-Assad — may his name be blotted out — was overthrown by the rebels and fled to Moscow. The attempt to turn Syria into an Iranian satellite state collapsed. This is undoubtedly a miracle and a sign of the Almighty’s mercy.

As I have written many times before, the fall of the Assad regime has been a monumental blessing for Israel and a severe blow to Hezbollah and Iran. Now, this is confirmed with documentary evidence.

At the time, there were frequent concerns: would Turkey seize the opportunity to establish control over Syria? Yet reality turned out to be far less dramatic. Turkish intervention never materialised. Moreover, it is possible that the resolute stance of the Israeli government — clearly drawing red lines — cooled Ankara’s ambitions and deterred Erdoğan from taking dangerous steps.

Today, Syria is a shattered, broken state with virtually no army. After Assad’s flight, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) destroyed all of the country’s key military infrastructure. This is a strategic victory for Israel and further proof of how even the most ambitious plans of its enemies can crumble swiftly when Israel acts decisively and with the help of G-d.
