The world is going through a major "shake up". Huge floods in Pakistan, mud slides in China, and unprecedented heat waves all over the world. In Russia, thousands of km of wildfires, heavy clouds of dirt, burning asphalt on the streets and people dying.

In Japan, there is a also a storm happening - but a good one. Over a week ago, the Prime Minister, Naoto Kan made revolutionary statements. He apologized to South Korea for the years of suffering under the Japanese rule.

About one hundred years ago, the Japanese emperor and army invaded South Korea. The Koreans were forced to serve in the Japanese army and were sent to the front to fight and die. The Koreans suffered terrible atrocities during this time. Their suffering ended on August 15, 1945 when the Japanese were defeated in World War Two.

Prime Minister Kan, a week ago released another statement: "We the Japanese say NO to War! Throughout the last century Japan was involved in conquering and fighting other Asian countries. This caused a lot of bloodshed and death. 2.5 million Japanese soldiers died in these wars, most of them in World War Two. In a recent ceremony commemorating 65 years to the end of World War Two, the Emperor Akihito and P.M. Kahn swore that Japan will not take part in wars anymore".

Kan said: "Throughout the war, Japan caused a lot of damage and suffering to many countries especially to the Asian nations. I express deep pain and sadness for what we caused and give my condolences to those that suffered and their families."

"In this place, I look back at our history and I truly hope that the war atrocities will not happen again", Emperor Hirohito said in his speech.

No one asked them to do this, but it happened.

Spiritually there is a revolution going on in the world. Leaders of countries announce an end to wars. The Lubavitcher Rebbe, the prophet of our time, says that the world is ready for Moshiach, and that we are in the Messianic era. "Beating swords into plowshares" (Isiah) is unfolding before our eyes.

Most interestingly, this happened exactly in the week that we read about Prophets and prophecies in the Torah portion (Shoftim).

In the years 1991-1992, years of great miracles, we saw that the world's super powers signed a treaty to reduce and eliminate nuclear warfare, and to redirect funds and military resources to economy, education and health. Now we are witnessing an additional step that Japan, a technological and financial super power apologizes on her past and promises no more wars.
