The Ministry of Defense in Israel signed a major deal with the developers of the Magen Or (Shield of Light) laser interception system, Rafael and Elbit. The deal, worth NIS 2 billion, is aimed at accelerating the development of the system, putting it into operation quickly and mass producing laser defense systems. It is planned that the system will be integrated into Israel's defense system within a year.
This system is revolutionary and breakthrough, and will enable the interception of threats at a great distance from Israel's borders using laser beams, i.e. at the speed of light — 300,000 kilometers per second. These systems will be deployed along the entire border and will work in combination with the Iron Dome, the David's Sling and the Hetz (“Arrow”) system.
In the future, the IDF may also be able to develop offensive systems that will allow it to fight against enemy armies and destroy them with laser weapons.
More good news: in addition to Rafael's Magen Or system, Elbit is making rapid progress in developing an airborne laser platform that will be able to shoot down hypersonic missiles traveling at very high speeds due to its speed of light.
This ability — to intercept even ultra-fast missiles — would provide Israel with an unprecedented defense.
A conventional laser unit placed on the ground cannot operate in cloudy conditions — a significant limitation. To overcome this problem, Elbit is developing an airborne laser platform that can be mounted on aircraft or drones above the clouds, providing superior protection even in challenging weather conditions.
The combination of Israel's systems — Rafael's Magen Or and Elbit's airborne laser platform — will be Israel's mighty defense, bringing our country, not without the help of a wonderful blessing from above, to the forefront of the world's development of laser weapons.
Laser weapons are weapons of light, and it is no coincidence that Raphael's system is named Magen Or (Shield of Light). On a deeper, spiritual level, the fact that Israeli companies are at the forefront of the development of these weapons, in our opinion, symbolizes the fact that the people of Israel bring to the world the sacred and infinite light of the holy Torah.
This infinite light comes into our material world through every good deed we do — through every act of kindness, every commandment, Torah study or prayer, and through faith and trust in the Creator.
In the coming complete and final Redemption, this light will be fully revealed — as stated in Chapter 36 of the holy book of Tanya.
Now, on the eve of this Redemption, as we stand on the threshold of the unfolding of this sacred light, we are already witnessing that in our world the most important weapon, both for defense and offense, is becoming a weapon of light!
And who is at the head of its development? The holy nation of Israel, bringing the light of holiness to our world!
This is a clear Divine Providence: the people of light who bring light to the whole world — “and the nations shall go to thy light, and kings to thy shining” — it is they who bring this amazing weapon — the weapon of light, the laser weapon, into the world.
