This concept can be further explained and illuminated: the work of the ninth generation (following the passing of the Rebbe Rayatz on the 10th of Shevat, 5710) truly begins on the day following the day of his ascension. This is because the day of the ascension itself is still closely connected to the Rebbe’s physical life in this world. Therefore, the primary work starts on the 11th of Shevat — the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
A similar idea can be seen when considering the passage of time, specifically in the context of the 40-year journey in the wilderness. The main phase of progress begins after the conclusion of the year of the ascension, which corresponds to the year 5711.
We also find an example of this during the Israelites’ first entry into the Land of Israel. This occurred after Moshe’s declaration on Rosh Chodesh Shevat (the beginning of the month of Shevat) in the 40th year: „Turn and begin your journey... Go and take possession of the land“ (Deuteronomy 1:7-8). At that moment, had they been meritorious, the full and ultimate Redemption could have taken place. Later, it is written: „The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month“ (Joshua 4:19).
From this, we derive that the main phase of entering the Land began the following day — the 11th of Nissan, the eleventh day of the first month. This day marks the transition from the preparatory stage (crossing the Jordan) to the primary stage of taking possession of the Land.
