We understand and feel that events around us are unusual and unimaginable; nobody would have been able to expect them in advance. But if we look deeper, we can see how the Jewish sages have already given us various clues and hints. One of the distinct signs of Redemption which our sages give is the fall of the Roman Empire (Italy), which, as we know, destroyed the Second Temple and fostered our most terrible exile, continuing day after day (in addition to the murder of the inhabitants of Beitar, where there were several million Jews).
It is explained in the midrash “The Genesis Story” (Ch. 25) in reference to the words “...one kingdom will become mightier than the other kingdom,” by these two nations is referred to Rome and Yerushalayim: “When Rome is destroyed, Yerushalayim exists. When Yerushalayim is destroyed, Rome exists.” And as it says (Yechezkiel 26:2): “I shall become full from the destroyed city” — one is full, and the other will be destroyed.
Indeed, for almost 2,000 years since the destruction of Yerushalayim, there has been Rome. Today, however, Rome (Italy) is the country that has become more destroyed than the rest, and so Yerushalayim will be rebuilt!
This is a clear and unmistakable sign of the coming Redemption, which will occur very soon!
Please let`s ask the Almighty to bless us all for the immediate revelation of the righteous Moshiach and the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple — then the people of Israel, as well as the nations of the world, will only prosper. All the negative things will disappear, and all the pagans (even those in Italy) will gladly come to the Holy Temple and apologize for everything they have done to the Jews over the centuries.
